Hi there everyone,
Unfortunately, I don't actually have holographic birds to show you today, contrary to my post title. Instead, I have a holographic gradient of ILNP polishes with plain old black birds. I know, boring right? :)
Although I love my ILNP holos to bits and will profess my love for holos to anyone that'll listen, I will also just as easily confess that I actually use them fairly infrequently. The problem is that I hate wearing plain nails (plain being just one colour/polish) but I also have so much trouble finding nail art designs to I use my beloved holos in. Either the design is too simple and looks silly along side such gorgeous polishes or the design is too complex and the whole design is a bit overwhelming and has too much happening.
Anyway, using them in a gradient honestly did not occur to me until I saw this picture on instagram and then I was so excited to do all the gradients! And before anyone gets too excited, I didn't hand paint the birds. They are actually nail tattoos (which I wrote a review about here) and I added them because I felt my gradient was lacking somewhat and I have had them sitting around for about 8 months and hadn't used them yet...
While the design looks lovely inside, it's in direct sunlight that the colours really come to life. As you can see in the above pictures, the holo effect is certainly there, but is a bit subtle. However, when you take them outside, the holo effect is like wow! It's truly amazing and my camera was unable to capture the true beauty of all the different colours.
For comparison, here is a picture of the design first inside, and then outside, just to see the difference in the polish. :)
For these, I used

Inside (effect definitely there, but not in your face about it) |
Outside (holo going crazy look at those sparkles!) P.S More impressive in real life |
For these, I used
Kings and Queens by ILNP (reddish/purple)
MEGA by ILNP (silver)
Black Out by Sally Hansen (black)
And it was all topped off with a coat of Poshe's Super Fast Drying Top Coat
