Hiya lovelies,
So, April has come and gone and it's time for me to reflect on what helped make this April a good one, in my humble opinion.
Horrible Histories
I am a huge history nerd. I love it. I also love learning about random facts that have very little relevance to everyday life. Also, I love singing and music. And bam, there is Horrible Histories in a nutshell. I like it because I find it really funny and I like learning random facts. Loving Horrible Histories is also something that me and my youngest sister have in common and watching it is something we can do together. However, I am super sad that it's now over for good.... Season 5 was the last season that they are ever going to make of Horrible Histories. Isn't that sad?
Yoga
Yoga is a pretty new, and relaxed addition to my life and is something I am approaching with caution, excitement and trepidation. It's the first bit of formal exercise that I've introduced back into my life since my eating disorder and to be honest, it's pretty scary. I suffered from exercise compulsion when I was in the throes of my anorexia and the drive to exercise and the push myself beyond my limits is something that I have no desire to return to. However, I love to push myself and to strive for bigger and better things and sadly, these things intersect in a very nasty way when it comes to exercise. For this reason, I've decided not to return to Tae Kwon Do (a martial art) yet, even though I love it and really miss it. It just has too many bad memories and connotations for me and I just don't trust myself to be able to take it slow. So I decided to take up yoga, in the hope that it will help fulfil my want to relearn and strengthen my body and help calm my mind. Anyway, I think I'll wrap up things there and maybe write a longer post on this later, let me know if you'd be interested in reading it?
Adventure Time
I know that this is a kids show, as my mother frequently likes to point out, but I love it all the same. I find it incredibly soothing and relaxing, as everything always turns out alright in the end. The bad guys are always the bad guys and the good guys are always good guys at heart. I love how Princess Bubblegum is an amazingly intelligent scientist and great leader and I love how Marceline is super cool and super terrifying. I love how Finn never has existential crisis's about his role and position in life - it's so relaxing. Also, it's just about the only TV show/movie/book/fictional world where the main character is my favourite character.
Rainbow Loom
These bands are fun! I don't care what other people say, they are fun and totally appropriate for 18 year olds. :) In case you have been living under a rock or something recently, or, you know, don't spend a large proportion of your week with lots of children under the age of 11, they are little plastic bands that you loop together to make bracelets and other stuff. I really like them and I've made my mother and all my sisters one each. They remind me a bit of Scoobies, which was an equally exciting craze that swept through my primary school like wildfire when I was about 10. Scoobies were a bit like Rainbow loom bands, except that Scoobies were long plastic cords that you knotted together.
My Pink Hair
Need I say more? I recently got my hair dyed and I love it. Surprisingly it faded super quickly and is now more of a dusky pink with orange bits where the pink has faded right out and only the bleached hair is left whereas before it was a bright fuchsia pink. I love all of it. Having even half a head of different coloured hair really helped me feel more like me and it's cheesy and pathetic but I honestly feel it gave me a boost of self-confidence (read more on that here).
Okay, so that is a rather short list of things, but I'm tired and I want to go to bed because I've been at a wedding all day and I'm tired - did I mention that. But, these things were good things for me this month, and it's important for me to focus on these things. So, focus on the positives guys - all the positives!
Until next time,
