Today, I feel like me. I feel like Lissa. I haven’t felt
this way in a very long time. It’s not mind-blowing, it’s not the end of the
world, it doesn’t even mean that I’m out of the woods yet. It’s just the little
things. Today, I was excited to eat breakfast simply because mum had made fresh
bread. That’s me. Today, I spent 2 hours dusting off my nail polish collection
and organising it. And then I painted my nails and made them look beautiful.
That’s me. I then spent 30 minutes photographing my nails because I thought
they looked so beautiful. That’s also me. I listened to Wham and danced around
crazily and singing while I did the ironing. That is so me. And it’s these
little things, these little bits of Lissa poking through that make me feel
hopeful. That there will be an end to this. That even though I feel sore,
bloated and hungry all the time, I can still be me. I can find Lissa again.
So here’s a tutorial for my latest manicure, a dry marbling
effect. I call it my ‘Sea Goddess’ manicure.
Have fun!
xxLissa
Sea Goddess Manicure
Vivid blue nail polish (I used Vivid Blue by Urban Colour One
Coat, from Coles)
Pastel green nail polish (I used Sweetpea by Australis)
Bamboo skewer or toothpick
Top coat
- Using the blue nail polish, paint one nail quite thickly
- Drop a dot of green nail
polish into the middle of the blue nail – while the blue polish is still
wet
- Using the bamboo skewer,
swirl the two colours together to create a marbled look (be careful not to
mix the colours too much or the colours will blend together too much)
- Repeat for the remaining
nails
- When dry, apply a top coat
