Galaxy Nails

Wednesday, 17 July 2013

Okay everyone, I have stars on my nails. I have galaxies on my nails. On my hands, I have constellations! They are about the coolest things I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe how easy they were. They were way easier than I expected and just great and arghhhhhh… I’m just so in love with them. Best nails ever…

You know, my friend had these really cool leggings that had pictures from NASA on and her legs had never looked better. They were covered in these amazing constellations and were just amazing. I was so jealous. But not anymore! Now I have my own personal galaxy on my fingertips. :)

And, I have to show you how to do them too so that you can share in this amazingness! Also, I stopped taking pictures halfway through because I figured that by that point, you had probably figured out what the nails were meant to look like after you applied each colour.

Hope you enjoy it.

A variety of nail polishes in pink, green, blue and purple

Glitter nail polish

Here you can see the selection of nail polishes I used

And here is my (used) make-up sponge

1.     Apply base colour of black or dark blue (I used Black Out by Sally Hansen)

2.    Using light colour for base of nebula (I used Sweetpea by Australis) and a corner of the make-up sponge, sponge on the green nail polish in a random design (make sure each nail is different)

3.    Using a darker pink (I used Bahama by Mode) and a different bit of the make-up sponge, sponge on bits of the pink inside the green areas

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.     <!--[endif]-->Take the lighter pink (I used Pink Panic by BYS) and another different section of sponge and apply the lighter pink as highlights to the darker pink
5.    Apply a blue (I used Vivid Blue by Urban Colours One Coat) just outside the green using yet another bit of sponge (I actually found it useful to cut up the sponge so that I had many corners to use)

6.     Add the purple (I used Voodoo Violet by BYS) in the same way as the blue, using another corner of sponge

7.     Lastly, apply at least one coat of glitter for stars (ones with different sized its of glitter are best). I used Colour 47 by QV and it even had silver stars in, which looked really cool

8.     And, of course, seal it all in with a top coat
