Hi lovelies,

Don’t worry – today’s post is short and nice and very friendly – unlike my last post. Sorry about that. But, I did promise to be honest and I want to be as open as possible with my recovery efforts so that (hopefully) I can be of so help to others in the same predicament.

Anyway, I attempted a gradient manicure for the first time today and I am soooooooo impressed with the way it turned out. Like seriously, super impressed. They look amazing and I am so in love and they also kind of look like sunsets, which is also really lovely. So, all in all, a very successful manicure. I used Fuchsia, by Urban Colours One Coat (shown in picture), and Social Climber, by Chi Chi.

No tutorial for you today, sorry, but I was kind of doing it as a stress release and a mood booster and I totally did not want to think about photos at that time… But I will definitely do a tutorial at some point as I can definitely see more gradients in my future. :) What do you think? Gradients: yes or no?

Trigger Warning! This is not a happy post. This is a very long post and may be triggering to those with an eating disorder. If unsure, please do not click the 'read more'. Don't torture yourself if you think it may be triggering. Just back away. Take care of yourself. xx

I have a confession.

Last night, I did something I’m not proud of. Something I knew was wrong. Something that was not going to make me feel better. In fact, it probably made me feel worse. But I did it anyway.

I googled thinspiration and I googled pro-ana. I spent a good hour and a half trawling through tumblrs, blogs and help sties dedicated to becoming thin and how to live with an eating disorder.

Why?

Because I was already feeling like shit and I wanted to torture myself.

How stupid.

Ciao lovelies!

Today, I have a fabulous recipe for you. It tastes great, it’s super quick, it only has three ingredients and it is easily customised to anybody’s tastes! Have I got you hooked yet? I hope so. If you were someone like me, who thought chocolate making was a long, difficult, complex process, think again! This recipe will have you impressing yourself, your family, your friends and pretty much anyway you give one of these chocolates too.

Back to School and a Green Glitter Manicure

Good morning!

How are you all today? I myself am feeling rather fabulous as I am sporting a brand new manicure, complete with sparkles! :) Unfortunately, my enthusiasm for life is somewhat dampened by the fact that tomorrow, I have to return to school… :( I dread it. School is the bane of my existence. I’m not even exaggerating. The sooner I get out of school, the better my life will be. In my personal opinion, November just can’t come soon enough…

Hello my lovelies!

I have another manicure for you (anyone sensing a pattern here? I think I’ve found a new obsession!). This one is very cool, if I do say so myself, (although definitely not as good as my Galaxy Nails – which I’m going to have to take off today, unfortunately (so much chipping)) :(.

Okay everyone, I have stars on my nails. I have galaxies on my nails. On my hands, I have constellations! They are about the coolest things I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe how easy they were. They were way easier than I expected and just great and arghhhhhh… I’m just so in love with them. Best nails ever…

Pumpkin Chocolate Muffins

In case you hadn’t noticed, I love pumpkin. I love it in soup, pies, scones, smoothies and muffins. I especially like it in muffins when it is combined with chocolate. And so, I am proud to present my favourite muffins ever – my mum’s famous pumpkin and chocolate chip muffins. These muffins are so good that they will even be eaten by Freckles, who is notorious in our family for not touching anything with anything ‘odd’ in it (and pumpkin in muffins is definitely odd, according to her anyway). These muffins are the best muffins ever, I’m not even exaggerating. Chocolately, moist, dense, filling, pumpkin-y – they are sooooo good. So good that I have to share them with you and you have to make them!

Feeling like Myself and a Sea Goddess Manicure

Today, I feel like me. I feel like Lissa. I haven’t felt this way in a very long time. It’s not mind-blowing, it’s not the end of the world, it doesn’t even mean that I’m out of the woods yet. It’s just the little things. Today, I was excited to eat breakfast simply because mum had made fresh bread. That’s me. Today, I spent 2 hours dusting off my nail polish collection and organising it. And then I painted my nails and made them look beautiful. That’s me. I then spent 30 minutes photographing my nails because I thought they looked so beautiful. That’s also me. I listened to Wham and danced around crazily and singing while I did the ironing. That is so me. And it’s these little things, these little bits of Lissa poking through that make me feel hopeful. That there will be an end to this. That even though I feel sore, bloated and hungry all the time, I can still be me. I can find Lissa again.

A Super-Sparkly Manicure

Hi all!

I have an exciting new addition to my blog – nail art! The other day, I was out shopping and saw those BYS glitter shimmer thingies and thought to myself, ‘I wonder why you have to fork out $8 for a bottle of fairly rubbish nail polish and glitter. What does that glitter have that normal glitter doesn’t?’. In
trigued, I went home and decided to experiment with some bog-standard glitter I had lying around and some normal nail polish.

As you can see, they came up a treat and I was incredibly impressed with the results – as was my mum (who had kindly agreed to be my model). Also, they were super easy and are super glittery. They also last well – my mum has had them on for about 4 days and they are only just starting to chip at the ends. However, they will by a HUGE pain to get off… Meh, worth it. ;)

Since then, I have done Opinionated’s, Freckles’s and my nails and so more to come on them soon. :) I’m really proud of them and I’m also really pleased to have re-discovered something I used to love, but had lost my interest in because of my anorexia. There was a time when I would even consider leaving the house without having nail polish on but that was a while ago. This is the first time I’ve painted my nails in over a year… I feel like I’ve rediscovered a part of who I am, a part of who Lissa is, not who anorexic-Lissa is.

xxLissa

P.S. Sorry about the interesting photo. I took this today and unfortunately only my mum’s thumb and pinky were suitable for a close-up photo so that’s why the photo’s not the best. But at least you get to see how fabulous they are. :)

Super-Glitter Nails
Nail polish, colour of your choice (I used Cherry Red by Sally Hansen)
Glitter to match nail polish (I used generic craft glitter)
Teaspoon
Small bowl (I used a dipping bowl)
Top coat

1.     Pour a small amount of glitter into bowl
2.     Paint one nail with nail polish and using teaspoon, spoon glitter onto wet nail
3.     Tap nail to shake off excess glitter and leave to dry
4.     Repeat with remaining nails and when dry, cover with top coat

Good evening everyone!

Sorry for the little absence, I’ve just broken up from school and for some weird reason, have not made it to the computer at all… My life has consisted of cleaning out my local video store, op shopping and eating. Man, that ED is a bitch… I start recovery and suddenly my body just wants ALL the food! But, other than that, I have had zero motivation to do anything, even the internet has seemed like too much work.

But I’m back on the internet and Opinionated is back from her school trip and she brought me the loveliest gift back for me.

See? Isn’t it just perfect!? She knows me so well. :)

And, that’s about it – I really just wanted to share my new coaster with you.
