Hello there lovelies,
Please excuse the less than fabulous picture, I threw my box out before I could get a picture of it and this was the only picture I could find of my colour set. I received the set a couple of weeks ago for my birthday, but only got around to trying it yesterday. It was actually my first time using caviar beads (way behind the game, I know) and so I was really excited to try it out.
So, in the box you get a bottle of nail polish, a bottle of caviar beads and a funnel, which is the weird black thing that you can see between the two bottles in the box.
The nail polish itself I love, the formula is smooth and non-streaky, although maybe a little on the sheer side. I applied 2 coats, which is my standard, and although they aren't patchy at all, on a couple of nails I can see black patches from where my nails have dirt underneath. But the colour is amazing and I really love it!
However, I'm not so sure about the beads. I applied them to both ring fingers and did as the instructions said - to paint a coat of polish and then pour the beads over the top. I did that for one nail (my right hand), however I found it hard to get even lines of beads around the cuticle and sides of my nail, so I don't feel the finished look is very neat. I also found it very difficult to get the beads to stay on the nail at the tip. They just seemed to slide straight off, although I put that down to me using that hand to do my other hand before it was dry.
With my left hand, I applied the polish and then dipped my nail into the tray I was using to catch all the excess beads. I thought this was very smart of me, but it actually caused the beads to look a little patchy and sparse on my left hand. Again I had the same problem with getting them to stick to the very end of my nail and looking even around the cuticle and side walls.
Also although the instructions told me not to apply top coat, I applied it to my right hand to see if there was any noticeable difference to the look. I didn't really think there was. However, after even half a day, the difference between the top coated and non top coated was really obvious. I had lost a lot of beads from my right hand and those that were left were very discoloured and not so great looking.
So, overall, I loved the nail polish but wasn't a big fan of the beads. I think partly that is to do with my application and that fact that is was my first try, but the discolouration was nothing to do with me (I would recommend a top coat, which prevented the beads from discolouring). But, for $10, it's worth it if you want to have a play around with the caviar beads, especially since the funnel was soooo useful for getting all the beads back into the jar.
