Lily Allen Inspired Nails

Saturday, 8 March 2014

Hello lovelies,

So, for the last week or so I've been obsessed with Lily Allen's latest song Hard Out Here. I've liked some of her earlier stuff, but found some to hard to handle (my poor 12 year old brain couldn't handle all that swearing!). But, this song, I just love!

The lyrics are just so clever and her voice is just amazing. She also looks just fabulous in the music video (although I'm just not sure what I think of the video on the whole - it was veeeery different to what I expected!). After seeing the cover for Hard Out Here, I just knew I was going to have to do her nails. And this is what they looked like.

I loved them way more than I thought I would, even though bits of them turned out a bit dodge. Speaking of, sorry about the state of the photos. The nails were a couple of days old by the time I got time to take pictures of them, so there's a bit of tip wear and I had to patch a a large chip on my middle finger before taking these, so they are not my best pictures.

Also, here's the picture I took my inspiration from.

As you can no doubt see, I made a rather major mistake with these ones... I had looked at the picture previously, thought 'yep, that's easy, I can do that' and then didn't look at it again until I was finished. Big mistake. I was so pleased with them and then I looked at the picture again and was like, 'you idiot! There were two colours in the whole design and you got them the wrong way round!' But, in hindsight, I actually like my design much better than the original. I got a lot of comments on them being cats eyes, which I kind of agree with, even though that wasn't the original intention.

Anyway, I used My Boyfriend Scales Walls by OPI (white) as an undie underneath the green, Flash Dance by BYS (green) and Black Satin by ulta3 (black).

Again, just to reiterate, I love, love, love these nails and I hope you do too! Out of interest, who's do you prefer? Mine or Lily's? (I promise I won't get offended if you say hers).
