Hi all,
As you no doubt can tell, the nails that I had for my Dinner Dance last night is going to be the focus of my post today. :) Fun fact - these pictures were taken at 6am the morning after, as for some unknown reason, we had to be at school the day after at 7:15 for a breakfast. It was ridiculous. The dance didn't end until 11 and it was like a 30min drive home. I had like 5 and a bit hours sleep. :( That is not cool. Especially for me, who needs 9-10 hours nightly... But moving on and away from my lack of sleep.
On one hand, this is really sad (the fact that this is my last school dance, not my lack of sleep). I've really enjoyed the school socials that I've been to, and it's a bit sad to think that this was my last one. I have been lucky though - I've had 7 school socials during high school, one in each yr 8, 9 and 11 and 2 in both yr 10 and 12. But, out of all of them, this one was by far my favourite for pretty simple reasons. I had my favourite dress out of all of them, I was surrounded by people that I knew really well, I was confident enough to not care how bad I was at dancing and I was mentally healthy enough to actually even care what was going on. Oh, and I got to celebrate the fact that I was done with school! :)
For these nails, I used Silver Dollar by Revlon and some rhinestones I bought in my local $2 store. :) Oh, and if you happen to think that they look a little pink, it's probably because they do. Unfortunately, my dress turned everything red, including, but not limited to, my legs, my nails, my bra, my underwear, my pyjama pants and my bed sheet. Gah! But it was worth it. :)
And, I thought, to celebrate my new embracing of photos (talked about in this post and this post), I thought I'd regale you all with a selection of photos of me from each of my socials throughout my time at high school.
However, when I actually went to find said photos, I discovered that I didn't have any from year 8 and 9. The ones from year 10 were taken with such an awful camera I had difficulty telling myself from the wooden table I was sitting on. The ones from year 11 and ball were so scary and bony I didn't even want to look at them and that only leaves the dinner dance that these nails came from. So I went, 'that's fine, I can work with that'. But then I actually looked at them and thought, 'Nope, these pictures are terrible quality, I can't post them!'. So, I'm sorry, but I don't actually have any pictures to show you of the actual dress. However, maybe I'll do an outfit post with that dress later, simply because I love it so much. But, here's a picture of me and my lovely friend - it was the only one suitable to post.
I suppose that I'm just glad I had the opportunity to go to so many school socials. Overall, I had 7 across my 5 years of high school. That's quite a lot when I think about it. Especially when I think about others that I know, such as my sister Opinionated, who only gets 3. One in year 10, one in year 11 and then the ball in year 12. While not all of them were as great as this last one (ball was actually fairly hellish), I have enjoyed them, for the most part.
Scarily, I am nearly all finished with school now. I've done my exams, wrapped with the last dance, had my school graduation and all that's left is the official graduation, which is on Saturday. It's a bit weird really, but good. I'm so excited to be out of school. To be rather cliche, I'm just super excited to close this chapter of my life and start a new one. I've booked my nail course for next year, I'm working one job at a after school childcare centre (more on that later) and I'm about to start a Christmas casual job. For once, things seem to be looking up for me (touch wood).
The only thing left is to find presents for my teachers... Anybody have any good suggestions? What do you give someone that says 'thanks so much, you are an awesome teacher and all around fabulous person and I don't think I would have made it through this year without your teaching and general loveliness'. I'm finding it a little difficult. :) If anybody has any ideas, and I mean any at all, please let me know.
