OPI Nail Envy Review

Monday, 18 November 2013

Hi lovelies,

In case you were wondering, which I’m sure you weren’t but I’m going to tell you anyway, my nails are exceedingly brittle, soft and very prone to flaking and peeling and breaking. They are also so flexible that I can take the tip of a nail and bend it down so that it touches the top of my finger. It’s really gross but makes for a good party trick (‘Hey guys, check out what I can do with my nail!’). :)

Mostly, I have put this down to my (self-diagnosed) hyperhidrosis – which is excessive sweating in my hands. Now, minimising the amount of time your hands spend in water is one of the first suggestions to improve nail growth and general nail conditions, but that is a little hard to do when you hands are permanently sweating and thus, quite damp.

So (and I swear this post has a point) I began researching nail strengtheners and heard a lot of good things about OPI’s Nail Envy. So, off I trotted to find the best deal the internet had to offer me and my bottle arrived the other day.

I then thought, ‘I could do a post on this stuff and how it affected my nails’ and so, I have. Here is a not so beautiful picture of my naked nails in all their uneven length, peeling and splitting glory.

I know, I know. They are fairly disgusting. Ah, the joys of terrible genetics...

Anyway, moving on from my great nails.... (I can't I'm posting this - those ten eye sores are part of the reason I make sure my nails are always painted.

So, here’s a picture of them after I used Nail Envy for a week. I followed their instructions completely…..

You know, if somebody had asked me whether there was any difference, I think I probably would have been like, 'Maybe, but I'm not sure. It could just be wishful thinking'. But, looking at the two photos, there really is a noticeable difference - and not just because the lighting is kinder in the second photo. My index finger is the prime example. For as long as I can remember, it has always flaked and flaked and flaked. But, now, it only has a small peel, unlike the giant one in the 'before' picture. My thumb nails are definitely stronger and think that overall, I think they are all a bit stronger. I only have had two breakages this week, whereas normally I get 4 or 5 - yes, bad nails, I know.

So, I'm quite impressed with it, more so after comparing these pictures. I'll continue to use it and maybe I'll do another post in a couple of weeks/months, to see how it holds up in the long run. :)
