Hello gorgeous people!
After my recent AWOL, I have vowed to come back with a bang.
I hope that you guys appreciate the 6+ hours I have put in for you guys today,
drafting ideas, creating posts, taking photos, editing photos, taking more
photos, binning them all in frustration… No, not the last part. Today is a
wonderfully beautiful gorgeous happy sunny day in Perth, with the temperature
probably around the mid to late twenty’s. Absolutely gorgeous and so what I
love. I am over this stupid winter and cold weather so bring on the sun and hit
me with summer! :) But really, it also means I just can take a ton of good
photos because of the beautiful sunlight – evidenced in the photos in this
post.
Anyway, it is also the holidays for me (wahooo!) and seeing
as I just finished my mock exams and my final WACE exams don’t start until
November, I feel 100% justified in kicking back and doing what I want to do.
Which mostly involves a lot of nail art, cooking, DIY and up-cycling.
Yesterday, I went on a whirlwind sewing craze and fixed and
old pair of demin shorts, reinvented a super-cool green velour shirt into
something I would actually wear, patched up and embellished my magic jeans
(called so because fit my 18yr exchange student who was about the size and
shape of a rake, fit me when I was twelve and definitely not a rake, still fits
me now and I have 100% no resemblance to a rake and also fits my 15yr old
sister, Opinionated, and my 13yr old sister Freckles) and made myself a pair of
dungarees from a pair of old jeans – which I am really REALLY impressed with. I
totally thought it was going to be a flop, but they turned out sooooo cool. I
might even post about them on here, if you guys are interested?
Anyway, through my various holiday-making experiences, I
have discovered that I really REALLY like denim. I mean, I always knew that I
liked denim but didn’t know that I liked it so much until I thought about how
many denim items I own. Off the top of my head I have; 3 pairs of shorts, 1
skirt, I shirt, 2 jackets, 3 dresses and 6 pairs of jeans. And considering the
small size of my closet, that is a large proportion of denim.
So, when I saw some pictures of acid washed nails, I knew I
had to have them on my nails. I would post the pictures here, but I can’t
remember where I saw them and anyway, I’m sure my nails will be more than
adequate. :)
For this, I used shade 21 by BC Company (pictured) and my
very first OPI – My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Oh, and I thought they would look
fabulous with some studs on top, but I didn’t have any so I thought, ‘I’m sure
some rhinestones designed for scrapbooking will do the same thing...’. I
attached them with a drop of top coat and so far, they have been holding up
really well. *fingers crossed*
I was really impressed with these and although the blue
wasn’t the same colour as any of my denim, it still looks very recognisably
denim and I really love it and it goes well with all my denim. :)
Okay, lots of love and hope you are all well…
