Hi everyone!
So I have some more new nails for you today and also, a tutorial! Well, technically, it's a pictorial. I have only just got my photography sort of where I want it so I think it will still be quite a while until I start filming tutorials (if I ever go down that route). I would like to, but I don't know what sort of time I'm going to have next year because I'm starting uni and I know filming and editing take quite a bit of time...
Anyway, back to the nails. These have been sitting around in my 'To post' folder since the middle of November, and I haven't had chance to post them until now. I'm pretty excited to post this, as I feel it's my first real nail art tutorial because all the little pictures are together in one image, as opposed to these galaxy ones and this tape manicure, both of which I did all the way back in 2013.
Also, putting this pictorial together actually took less time than I expected, which makes me more likely to do more of them and also makes me feel so accomplished! :)
So I've been seeing a lot of dream catcher nail art around recently and thought that I'd also try my hand at it. Surprisingly, it was much easier than I thought they were going to be, which is always a plus in my book!
However, if you are wondering why it seems like the pictorial seems to jump a couple of steps/changes focus in steps 1, 2 and 3 it's because I kept forgetting I was meant to be taking pictures of every step.... (I think I need more practice)
For these nails, you'll need:
A beige/neutral base colour (I used Shade 26 by BC Company)
Another base colour of your choice (I used an un-named blue-y green from Rubi Shoes)
A black polish (I used Black Out by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear)
A top coat and base coat (I used Super Fast Drying Top Coat by Poshe and Nail Envy by OPI)
A small brush for detail
A small dotting tool (or a tooth pick, a bobby pin or a bamboo skewer - I use a bamboo skewer)
Steps
Paint your nails with your base coat and base colours (beige on middle and ring finger and other colour on thumb, index and pinky)
1. Using your small brush, draw an arch on your middle and ring finger
2. Inside your arch, using your black polish, paint some triangles (keep them fairly wide and flat)
3 & 4. Still using black, paint some smaller triangles on top of your other triangles, using the point of the previous row (the idea is to create diamonds)
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 and finish off the inside by painting a small black circle - as is found in the centre of real ones
6. Still using your black polish, paint three short lines from the edge of your dream catcher
7. Paint a small black circle (this doesn't have to be particularly neat)
8. Paint another black line from the edge of your circle, but try not to go all the way to the end of the nail (I tried it both ways and think it looks better this way)
9. Using your other colour, use your dotting tool to place a small dot inside you little black circle (from step 7)
10. Clean up, top coat and you are good to go!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and please let me know if you recreate it by commenting down below or tagging me on instagram (@daniwilliams__) and also let me know whether you would like to see more tutorials like this. And, if so, whether there is any of my previous designs that you'd like to see tutorials for. :)
